Why cooks love the dried ones

Long shelf life

Drying removes the moisture, so your mushrooms keep for months in an airtight container — no fridge needed.

Deeper flavour

Drying concentrates the taste. A small handful of dried mushrooms gives soups and stews a rich, savoury depth.

Easy to use

Soak in warm water for 15–20 minutes, then cook like fresh. Use the soaking water in your pot for extra flavour.

How to use them

From the cupboard to the pot in three steps

  1. 1

    Soak

Cover the dried mushrooms with warm water and leave for 15–20 minutes until soft.

  2. 2

    Save the water

The soaking water is full of flavour — pour it into your soup or stew, leaving any grit behind.

  3. 3

    Cook

Add the softened mushrooms to light soup, stews, sauces and one-pot dishes and cook as usual.
